Rizka + Grant | Autumn Wedding at The Apiary

Rizka+Grant hosted an Autumn garden inspired vow renewal and wedding celebration at The Apiary in Lexington, Kentucky. They had gotten married in an intimate city hall ceremony during the Pandemic, and wanted to finally host a party for their friends and family. We shot the majority of the day on analog film formats, with a focus on documentary and candid photography.

Rizka started her day getting ready in a hotel room at The 21C Museum with just a few friends and family. It was a slow morning—with The Office playing on the tv and Manolo Blahnik’s hanging on the couch. After she was dressed in her Danielle Frankel gown, we headed to The Apiary for Riz to finally see Grant. They read private vows in the gardens with just the two of them, and their dog (who I could have easily hung out with the entirety of the wedding). Cocktail hour was filled with incredible appetizers, while a live jazz band played us through the chilly, Autumn air surrounded by the prettiest golden foliage and red garden flowers. The party moved indoors, to a dimly lit dinner space, filled with moody florals and candlelight. The reception was filled with a few tears, and a lot of laughter, and an incredible dance party.
