Nathalie+Teddy | Lake Darling Wedding on Film
My second time celebrating with this family, getting to know them just a little bit more than before.
A day with my favorite shades of blue // a night with a color drenched backyard.
A goodbye on a canoe into the the dark waters.
Spirited. Carefree. Love filled.
and a self reminder of my adoration of color, loose timelines, and watching the space and people change from day to night.
I’ll feel this one in my bones for a long time.
Nathalie+Teddy hosted a summer lakeside backyard wedding celebration at Lake Darling, Minnesota. We shot the majority of the day on analog film formats, with a focus on documentary and candid photography, and very little shot lists or timelines.
It was a slow morning—with everyone getting ready in separate cottages on the property, and those who weren’t getting ready just yet were riding around in pontoons on the lake. Nathalie and Teddy had their first look on the dock, very near where Teddy first proposed. Pre ceremony, they read private vows to each other, rode a golf cart around, hung out with their closest friends and family. I really love when weddings have a pre ceremony cocktail hour, and this one was filled with incredible drinks, colorful garden party inspired fashionable guests, and a perfect summer breeze. Their uncles were the flower men, and brought the sass to go with it. After the ceremony, the guests moved to the tent, for a color drenched PARTY. The trees, the lake, the tent—everything was lit to the max, while Nathalie and Teddy sprayed the dance floor with a smoke machine. The guests waved them off, as they exited their reception in a floral filled canoe, rowing out into the darkness of the lake.
